Sponsor a Child

Intro

Intro

The Sponsor-a-Child programme gives poor, deserving children in schools, a chance to get a basic education and complete high school without financial constraints. The scheme supports children from class 4 to class 10, by paying for their tuition, books and uniforms. This Maria Seva Sangha does, either from its own funds or from funds raised through donations. Donors are invited to sponsor children for a period of 7 years, from classes 4 through 10. In this way, deserving, financially needy children can be ensured of an uninterrupted education till high school.

Since the inception of the Sponsor-a-Child programme in 2006, over 1864 children have benefitted from the programme. You too can be a part of this journey, by committing to support the education of a child for 7 years - either by way of a one-time donation or through annual payments. At present, it costs, Rs. 5,000/- per child per year or Rs. 33,000/- for 7 years. Details of the sponsored child(ren) are sent to the donors annually and include photographs and progress reports.

Donations of smaller amounts towards the programme are also welcome. All donations are eligible for 80G deductions under the Income Tax Act.

Maria Seva Sangha through this scheme welcomes sponsors to choose and sponsor children from a list of deserving, financially needy children, provided by the school. They pay for the education of the child from Std IV through Std X. The amount given includes fees for the academic year, books and uniforms. The money can be given yearly or as a one-time donation for all seven years. The sponsor will then be responsible for financing the education of the child till high school education is completed. The details of the child will be sent to the sponsor every year along with the two semester reports and photographs if so desired.

There is also the option of giving a donation towards the project, which will go into a corpus, the interest of which will be used to educate children in school.

  • Donations to this Scheme are eligible for 50% tax Exemption under Sec 80G of the IT Act.
